Our Founders

Dr. David McMonigle, Sr

Dr. David McMonigle graduated from WSU in 1963 and began practicing in Auburn, WA. He founded McMonigle Veterinary Hospital at its current location in 1974. He built the clinic by forming relationships with each individual client and several of Dr. David’s clients and their families have continued their relationship with us today.

Dr. David passed away peacefully in his sleep in late 2018. Dr. David was an important part of many lives and his presence is missed greatly. His legacy will forever be felt and honored at our hospital.

The stained glass window seen in this photo is featured on the front of our building and is a work of art done by Dr. David. He kept his stained glass supplies in the basement and would work on projects during his breaks. The cat was the first piece he completed.

Dr. Rob McMonigle, Jr

Dr. Rob McMonigle, Jr graduated from WSU in 1998 and started his career as a veterinarian alongside his dad at McMonigle Veterinary Hospital. He learned many valuable lessons working beside him, such as the importance of building lasting relationships with his clients and patients. Dr. Rob purchased the clinic from his father in 2001 and the clinic grew in size under his leadership over the years, becoming the 4 doctor practice it is today.

He dedicated his career to creating a warm and caring environment to care for to his patients. In 2022, Dr. Rob recognized the need for new leadership as his retirement approached, and he carefully selected a company to purchase the clinic that would honor and respect the business that the McMonigle family had built over the years. Dr. Rob retired in September 2024 and is excited to watch the clinic continue to thrive over the years in new hands.

His greatest enjoyment over his years working as a veterinarian was watching his patients grow up – “It’s something special to see a young animal grow up and become not just a pet, but part of the family.” He is grateful to have been a part of many peoples’ and pets’ journeys during his years of service. He has felt fortunate to experience such a fulfilling career and will always remember the days he spent here at the clinic.
